Tomorrow's Gospel reading is from Luke, and a friend of mine has written a little something to go with it.
Luke 5:27-32
"After this he went out and saw a tax-collector named Levi, sitting at the tax booth; and he said to him, ‘Follow me.’ And he got up, left everything, and followed him. Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house; and there was a large crowd of tax-collectors and others sitting at the table with them. The Pharisees and their scribes were complaining to his disciples, saying, ‘Why do you eat and drink with tax-collectors and sinners?’ Jesus answered, ‘Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; I have come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance."REALITY CHECK
After this he went out and saw a man in his Levi's, sitting by his motorbike; and he said to him, "Follow me." And he got up, gave the chrome-work one last loving polish, and followed him. Then the man in his Levi's gave a riotous party for him in his house; and there was a huge crowd of bikers and others crammed in at table with them. The folk from the local House of Prayer could not make head nor tail of this at all, saying, "Why ever do you eat and drink with bikers and people who do not even know how to dress properly or behave in public?" He answered, "If only you could learn something from them, you might just be able to escape from your lives of pretence. Many of them are much more in touch with their own and God's reality than you've ever been."
