(1, 1-2-3)

Well, I take whatever I want
And baby, I want you
You give me something I need
Now tell me I got something for you
Come on, come on, come on and do it
Come on and-uh do what you do

I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love

Listen

Well, it's late and I want love
Love that's gonna break me in two
Don't you hang me up in your doorway
Don't you hang up like you do

Say it
Come on, come on, come on and do it
Come on, come on, do what you do, Woo!

I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love

Well I say now

I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love

Say it again, aah
I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love

I've got to tell ya baby, that I
I love you so much I can't get enough of your love
I love you so much I can't get enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love

Mmm, you know what I'm saying baby
I can't get enough of your love

I can't get enough, enough of your love
I can't get enough, enough of your love
I can't get enough of your love, Yeah
Woo! Ah, come on baby
Come over here right now
Oh oh oh oh...

In a nutshell the lyrics of this song are self explanatory. They are about someone who "Can't get enough" of his partner's love. There is some melancholic feeling to this song as well. It seems that the person Bad Company are portraying in the lyrics is asking for love from his partner, he has been refused love "Don't you hang me up in your doorway Don't you hang up like you do" This sounds very much like someone who has been rejected and abandoned. Someone who needs love but is not given it. Broken relationships and jilted love seem to make the best rock songs but in life they are the worst of times.

The Bible is a book about God’s love toward us. There are many direct quotations in the old book that suggest this. That seems fair enough but this bible also contains contains many smaller micro stories about love. One of those smaller love stories is the story of Jacob and Rachel.

In summary, after Jacob ran away from his brother Esau, he went to live with his mother’s family in Haran. While looking for his uncle Laban, Jacob met Rachel, Laban’s daughter. She was caring for her father’s sheep. Rachel took Jacob to Laban who gave Jacob a job and a place to stay.

Jacob negotiated with Laban to work for him for seven years. In return Laban would give his daughter Rachel to Jacob as his wife.

The Bible tells the story in Genesis 29.
Genesis 29:18- 30 "18 Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, “I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel.” 19 Laban said, “It’s better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay here with me.” 20 So Jacob served seven years to get Rachel, but they seemed like only a few days to him because of his love for her. 21 Then Jacob said to Laban, “Give me my wife. My time is completed, and I want to make love to her.” 22 So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast.23 But when evening came, he took his daughter Leah and brought her to Jacob, and Jacob made love to her. 24 And Laban gave his servant Zilpah to his daughter as her attendant. 25 When morning came, there was Leah! So Jacob said to Laban, “What is this you have done to me? I served you for Rachel, didn’t I? Why have you deceived me?” 26 Laban replied, “It is not our custom here to give the younger daughter in marriage before the older one. 27 Finish this daughter’s bridal week; then we will give you the younger one also, in return for another seven years of work.” 28 And Jacob did so. He finished the week with Leah, and then Laban gave him his daughter Rachel to be his wife. 29 Laban gave his servant Bilhah to his daughter Rachel as her attendant. 30 Jacob made love to Rachel also, and his love for Rachel was greater than his love for Leah. And he worked for Laban another seven years."
At the end of the seven years Laban offered his daughter’s hand in marriage. However, at the wedding Laban tricked Jacob into marrying Leah, the older sister. Because, he said, it was not right for the younger daughter to marry first. The Bible says that Jacob continued to work for Laban another seven years to be able to have Rachel as his wife.

Jacob originally consented to a seven year contract to wed the girl he loved. Even after the deception, he continued to work another seven years for the hand of Rachel. Such was his sacrificial love for Rachel.

The greatest story of love is the story of Jesus Christ. Since the very beginning of the Bible, God has shown His love to the world. Even though He requires death as punishment for sin, God promised a redeemer who would come to earth to save mankind. Many stories in the Old Testament are used as examples to help us understand the love of God through Jesus Christ. Just like the story of Jacob and Rachel.

The sacrifices of the Old Testament were to point people to the ultimate sacrifice—Jesus Christ. Like Jacob, God in Christ goes the distance in sacrificial love.

Jesus’ death on the cross in the place of us guarantees salvation to those who come to him seeking forgiveness for their sins. This forgiveness can be had as a free gift (Romans 6:23).
Romans 6:23 -"23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
The greatest story of love in the Bible can be summed up in the wonderful verse of John 3:16: the story of God's outreaching love to all. The story that rescues and takes a world in his arms and love it.
John 3:16- 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This is the kind of love we cannot do without. a love that is sacrificial, That puts other before itself. May you all know this kind of love in each of your lives today.
