Over the last decade myself and others have been very uncomfortable about the state of the Church, Discipleship and Sunday worship. The Church has tweaked and modernised in recent decades. Some leaders and denominations have tried to make their churches more relevant by altering the style or changing the shape of the morning worship service.
Some have watered down the gospel so much that it is hard to see where Jesus really is in the lives of those who insist that they are following him. All of the tweaks only gets so far. Most of the tweaking has come from a place of survival. It is clear from missiologists that the centre of gravity has shifted from the western church to the east. It might be viewed that this is a move of God's Spirit, returning the church to more easter roots. after all Jesus was non-european.

From my own perspective and from many visits over the years to other churches we are in danger of forgetting that the central figure of worship in the entire scripture is Jesus. It's for this reason that I've begun a series in my own church called "CULTIVATING A PASSION FOR JESUS" Here is the contents of the sermon series.
