Visiting Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre- Part One

Today I visited the youth Justice centre at Malmsbury which is roughly 1.5 hours from John's house in Boronia, Melbourne. We arrived and were met by "Mav" the chaplain and God Squad member of 30 years next year. It was so good to be back in a prison environment, as since leaving prison chaplaincy in 1996 I've been itching to get back into a prison. We were shown to reception and were duly signed in. John and I were then taken for a guided tour of the establishment. It was great. We met staff and inmates. We then went to Mav's office for a chat to find out how he got involved in Squad and how he was able to be at Malmsbury as their only chaplain.
